The hairdresser of the stars Jacques Dessange died at the age of 94, announced his lawyer. The death of the founder of the famous international hairdressing group was confirmed to AFP by a spokesperson for the Dessange International group.
Jacques Dessange learned the profession of hairdresser with his father, in the family salon in Souesmes in Sologne. With his study certificate, he went to Paris in 1945 as a hairdresser: he was fired twelve times in a year. At the famous post-war hairstylist Louis Gervais, he invented with the “hairdo-hair-dress”.
His professional activity started in 1949. From that year, he became the appointed hairdresser of the models of the house of Dior. His second salon opened in Saint Tropez the following year.
In those years, he styled Jean Seberg, but also Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, Sheila, Syvie Vartan. The world of cinema opened its doors to him from the early 1960s.
