Jacksonville, Florida – A weekend marked by gun violence in Jacksonville resulted in one fatality adn injuries to two others in separate shooting incidents, police reported. Investigations are ongoing into both events.
The first shooting occurred Sunday at approximately 5:13 a.m. on Cesery Boulevard, where officers discovered a man in his early 20s with a gunshot wound to the calf. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.Preliminary investigations indicate the shooting followed a confrontation on Mills Creek Road, though the victim and witnesses were unable to provide detailed descriptions of suspects or vehicles involved, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
The second, more serious incident unfolded Saturday night around 8:40 p.m. at a Burger King located on Blanding Boulevard near Collins Road. JSO officers arriving at the scene found two individuals suffering gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention,one victim succumbed to their injuries. the other was hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Detectives have detained multiple individuals for questioning to determine the circumstances leading to the Burger King shooting and assess their potential involvement. The investigation is being jointly conducted by the JSO Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, the State Attorney’s Office, and the Medical Examiner’s Office.The incident classification is currently pending.
