Jack the Shooter, Skittles, Ludza Cadre / Day

Teachers who strictly follow standards and regulations when abandoning humanity; loved ones who no longer remember why they fell in love with each other; work that seamlessly merges with private life and disrupts relationships with fellow human beings. Triptych: Jack the Shooter, Skittles, Ludza Squadron There are three playwrights – Justīne Kļava, Kārlis Krūmiņš and Klāvs Meļļa – reflections on the manifestations of power in modern society, combining different views of artists in one work of art.

Director Paula Pļavniece says: “The play consists of plays by three different playwrights created specifically for this production.

Justine Maple comedy Jack the Shooter takes place in a small – town police station, where two young investigators, using bare bottom photographs, are trying to solve an absurd crime. The play is an attempt to find out how resentment, fear and longing for love and recognition unconsciously affect an individual’s attachment to one or another system of beliefs.

Kārlis Krūmiņš school detective Skittles resolves a conflict between pupils and teachers following the exclusion of several young people from school due to irregularities. Will friendship and humanity or laws and regulations win?

In turn, Klava Meļļa Ludza quadrille is almost a drama that takes place between two young people in difficult relationships. It is a work on love crises, relationship revolutions and on patriotism, as President Levits would say – the will of the state. Also about whether and to what extent it makes sense to flirt with such a means of expression as a very simple and clear directness.

The triptych is composed by director Paula Pļavniece together with actors Anci Strazda, Inta Tirol, Anna Klēvera, Ivars Krasts, Agri Krapivņickis, Andis Strodas and Jānis Kronis, scenographers Austras Hauks, choreographer Rūdolfs Gediņš and sound artist Reinis Indāns, Thunderstorms.
