Two years after Karel Gott’s death, his fans have finally seen it. Hundreds of lucky people in his native Pilsen enjoyed the preview of a documentary about his life called simply Karel on Saturday. There was also a widow Ivana Gottová, for whom it was the first evening in the company after the departure of her beloved husband. She also gave a moving speech.
Ivana Gottová went to society for the first time since the death of the eternal Slavík. On Saturday, she premiered a documentary about Karel Gott’s career and privacy in the Pilsen amphitheater. It was supposed to be shown in cinemas a year ago, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans had to wait for it.
The Master’s widow was greeted in the auditorium by thousands of her husband’s supporters. She smiled with a bouquet in one hand and champagne in the other, but did not hide her emotion.
“I’m very happy to be here with you and thank you for all the beautiful words that have been said here. Thank you for the preview in his hometown. May the film warm your heart and please you.” Gott said.
The director of the film, Olga Špátová Malířová, could not miss the Saturday preview. She spent the last months of his life with the legendary singer. Like Gott, she was pleased that the documentary was screened for the first time in his hometown. “He always said: my Pilsen people understand me,” revealed.

Gott’s daughters did not come
None of Gott’s daughters arrived at the amphitheater. The youngest Charlotte and Nelly try to protect Ivan from public attention, Lucie has always avoided the company and Dominika has recently returned to Finland. In addition, she does not have the best relationships with her stepmother.
The documentary Karel will hit regular cinemas on October 7.
