ASHLAND, Ohio – The IUP women’s volleyball team secured two decisive victories Saturday, sweeping both Ursuline and West Liberty to conclude competition at the Ashland Tournament and improve to a 3-1 season record. These are the Hawks’ frist straight-set wins of the 2025 fall season.
The Crimson Hawks demonstrated dominant form against ursuline, winning 25-11 and 25-10 in the first two sets. IUP’s offensive versatility was on full display, with nine different players contributing kills-six of whom registered multiple. The team’s strong defensive presence resulted in 13 total blocks,12 of which were block assists. Ellie Rauch orchestrated the offense with 14 assists.
The match against west Liberty proved slightly more competitive,with IUP prevailing in sets decided by a narrow margin. Jessica Neiman led the Hawks’ attack with 13 kills, supported by double-digit kill performances from teammates. Rauch continued her consistent playmaking, delivering 32 assists-her fourth consecutive match leading in that category. Brooke Kessler anchored the back row with 16 digs, combining with Rauch for 26 of the team’s 41 total digs.
IUP will next compete in the Walsh Tournament on September 12 and 13,facing three opponents in Canton,Ohio,including Central State on Friday at 2 PM.
