Jean-Paul Hamon, general practitioner in Clamart, honorary president of the Federation of Doctors of France, draws up the list of people who cannot have the Covid vaccine, or those for whom it is not recommended.

franceinfo: Are there indeed a certain number of people concerned, first of all people with allergies?

Jean-Paul Hamon: The only allergy contraindication is people who are allergic to propylene glycol. It is extremely rare.

What about children, pregnant women? The vaccine is not recommended for them. Does that mean it’s dangerous?

No. That is to say that in the experiment on vaccinations, pregnant women were not concerned, were not tested. So, in the absence of a test, it is better to avoid pregnant women. On the other hand, in children under 16, for the moment, there is no indication especially. And since we don’t have a colossal number of doses, I think we should limit vaccinations to people who risk developing a severe form, especially the elderly.

Immunocompromised patients, cancer patients, for example, also there are no tests by vaccine manufacturers. So, we don’t know whether or not we can vaccinate them?

For immunocompromised patients, on the contrary, I believe that there are no contraindications and for people who have cancer, between two chemotherapies, there is no problem.

If we have had the Covid, do we need to be vaccinated or are we already somewhat immune, can we wait?

For people who have had the Covid for less than three months, we do not vaccinate them; on the other hand, for people who were infected more than three months ago, there is no contraindication to vaccination.

If I have been sick, not necessarily the Covid, but a small flu or a recent infection, can I be vaccinated right away or do I have to wait?

People who have an ongoing infection, we do not recommend getting the vaccine, because we have to let the immunity take hold; Likewise, when children come to the office with a fever, they wait until the infection is over before vaccinating. It’s more reasonable.
