“It’s definitely not a vacation!” LTV personality Ošinek about going on a year-long parental leave

In a conversation with the publication “Privatā Dzīve”, Ošinek reveals that his family’s case is easier because his wife has her own business and she is not tied to a specific working time.
Despite the fact that Ošinek went on a year-long parental leave, she still takes care of the two offspring – four-year-old Ralph and newborn Annie.

“I am [sievas] the implementer of big tasks. However, from my experience, I can now openly say that it is not fair to call a year after the birth of a child a vacation,” says Ošinek, adding: “Colleagues sometimes jokingly ask: “How about vacation? Rest? When will the vacation end?” Well, you know! It’s not a vacation at all!”

“In my opinion, the father’s role in raising children is as important as the mother’s,” said the sports journalist.

When asked why the decision was made to go on parental leave, Ošinek does not hide that he was too much in the wheel of work. He has not lost contact with his colleagues and still participates in meetings both remotely and in person, as well as making plans for the future after a year’s absence.
