Italy has tightened rules to fight the coronavirus, Reuters reported. The new measures envisage a ban on all public celebrations for the New Year, BTA reported.

Wearing masks outside becomes mandatory. Authorities also order the wearing of masks with a higher protection class than FFP2 in public vehicles and in public places, such as cinemas, theaters and sporting events.

Concerts and all outdoor events are prohibited until January 31. Discos and dance clubs are also closed until this date.

According to the measures, the government will also reduce the period between the second vaccination dose and the booster dose from the current five months to four months.

Authorities are also reducing the validity of green certificates, which are needed to access many sites and services. The validity, as of February 1, from 9 months, as it is now, will be 6 months for those vaccinated and for those suffering from Kovid-19.

By introducing these measures, the government aims to avoid universal lockdowns, such as those from the winter of 2020.
