Italians develop fever meters for access control

The Italians are creative in the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic. Two entrepreneurs from Cividale del Friuli near Udine have developed a temperature measurement device that can be placed in front of the entrance to shops, businesses and restaurants.

The measuring device equipped with software warns of physical temperatures of over 37.5 degrees. If people with a fever are registered, the device rings and blocks access to the pub or shop. This is to prevent the spread of the corona virus. “TAACfatto” is the name of the device that Friulian entrepreneur Marco Zorzettig developed together with the owner of the “SBengineering” studio, Gimmi Bodigoi. The device, which costs around 2,500 euros, is 1.70 meters high and 35 centimeters wide.

“It is enough for one person to look at the display and the temperature is measured immediately. When the temperature is below 37.5 degrees, a green traffic light appears. Otherwise, the shop or local staff will be alerted, ”reports Zorzettig. The entrepreneur has already had “TAACfatto” patented.

Coronavirus measurement: use in “Phase 2”

According to the entrepreneur, the device could be particularly useful in the so-called “phase 2”, in which social distance must still be maintained. “TAACfatto is easy to install, takes up little space and replaces the staff that you would otherwise have to use at the entrance to measure temperature,” says Zorzettig. In his opinion, the device has many uses, including in front of the entrance to stadiums, sports and shopping centers, swimming pools and wherever people gather.

Zorzettig is primarily known as a winemaker in Friuli. He produces wines with the brands “La Tunella” and “Alturis”, as well as the Friulian beer “Birra Agricola Artigianale Gjulia”. “Anyone who produces wine and beer like us knows that the reopening of bars, restaurants, wineries and bars is of vital importance. The crisis is acute after all the bars have been closed for several weeks, ”says the entrepreneur. He therefore thinks that his temperature measuring device could be an optimal solution in the phase after the knitted lockdown has ended.

The Italian government is working on the planning of the so-called “phase 2” with the loosening of the curfew and the resumption of industrial production. Staggered opening times for companies, public offices and offices are checked. The government wants to prevent rush hours with large crowds of people on the streets and in public transport.
