KOMPAS.com – Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto admit that football forging Italy left a special impression on his heart.

There is an old saying that says that seek knowledge as far as China. For Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, the saying would be more fitting if China was replaced with Italy.

The legendary striker of the Indonesian national team who is now pursuing the world of coaching, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, is ready to open a new adventure on Italian soil.

Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto will return to the country of Piza with Serie B club, like 1907, in the capacity of assistant coach.

A five-year bond with Como 1907 ensured that Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto would stay in Italy for a long time, something that was no longer a new experience for him.

Regarding his football career in Italy, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto did it in the early 1990s, when he was still active as a player.

At that time, Kurniawan DY joined the PSSI project Spring in 1993-1994 who practiced at Sampdoria and entered the Italian youth competition.

In fact, Kurniawan got a rare opportunity to join the team spring Sampdoria with goalkeeper Kurnia Sandy.

Kurniawan’s slick performance convinced Sampdoria to give him the opportunity to train in the senior team until the man born in Magelang took part in the pre-season tour to Asia.

The experience of a career in Italy left a deep impression on Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto as a professional.

“Yes, it’s something special because I used to learn soccer during the primavera,” said Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto to Kompas.com.

“The one that changes mindset I as a professional footballer yes there. So it was really open when I was there. And now I can go back to it,” he added.

Decades passed, fate brought Kurniawan DY back together with Italian soil.

Kurniawan will take advantage of the opportunity to become an assistant coach for Como 1907, a contestant in the Italian League’s second tier competition, to gain knowledge, just like what he did when he was young in the early 1990s.

“I am also grateful to God Almighty, of course. Because I never thought I would get an opportunity like this,” said Kurniawan, who had a career in Malaysia as the coach of Sabah FC.

“I will make the best of this opportunity, I don’t want to go there just for a walk.”

“But, I also want to gain knowledge of football which can eventually be useful for many people later,” Kurniawan concluded.
