Six-time Spanish LaLiga champions Valencia CF have unveiled updated plans for their Nou Mestalla stadium. The capacity of the future stand was also published, which will reach 49,000 seats, but thanks to the possibility of simple expansion, the stands will be able to accommodate up to 70,000 fans.

The detailed project will only be presented to the general public once the club has obtained all the necessary permits from the Valencia City Council. However, it is already known that Valencia’s new home will draw inspiration from the city and Mediterranean culture. The building will have, as club officials call it, “Mediterranean balconies” inspired by the current Mestalla stadium.

In addition, the Nou Mestalla is expected to significantly improve the spectator experience thanks to optimal views and comfort, as well as a large restaurant and “entertainment center”.

The new stadium of the Spanish football club Valencia CF is probably the longest under construction sports stand in the world. While the plans for the new home were presented by “bats” back in 2006, construction work began in 2007 and is still not finished:

In addition, the stadium will be 100% ecologically sustainable. In cooperation with a technological partner, a complete solar roof covered with photovoltaic panels will be created. Thanks to more than 300 sunny days a year, which Valencia is proud of, the roof of the building will be used to produce green energy, which will benefit not only the building itself, but also the local residents. When completed, it will be the largest roof covered with solar panels in Europe.

The question of the size of the new stadium’s viewpoint changed during the development of the project. In March, the club announced that the Nou Mestalla was to have a capacity comparable to the current stadium, around 55,000 seats, with the possibility of “flexible and rapid expansion” depending on demand up to 70,000 seats.

Officials of the Valencia CF club say that the construction of the Nou Mestalla, in which 172 million euros have already been invested, will cost 350 million euros after the completion of the entire project. According to them, the cost of the device, measured in euros per seat, will be approximately 3,500 to 4,000 euros. This is an amount comparable to those spent on the construction of the new San Mamés in Bilbao or the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

The club hopes that construction work will begin in October this year, but the date when the Nou Mestalla stadium will be ready for use could be pushed back. Today, the most likely opening date is summer 2025.
