Mohamed Salah had hesitated to join Liverpool. The Egyptian soccer superstar was worried because of that Sadio Mane before being convinced by Jürgen Klopp.
It was wrong to move to Liverpool in the summer of 2017, one season after Mane was hooked from Southampton. Before the arrival of Salah, Mane played as a right winger throughout 2016/2017 to produce 13 goals and six assists in the Premier League.
Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, then moved Mane to the left wing so Salah could play his favorite position on the right wing. The decision was ultimately proven right.
Mane increasingly fertile with notched 65 goals since 2017/2018, while Salah managed to hit 95 goals. The combination of both brings the Champions League trophy and Premier League for Liverpool.
“When I was going to join Liverpool, I was worried because of him [Mane] playing in my position and that makes me worried about playing more often, “Salah told BeIN Sports.
“But Juergen Klopp personally explained to me that Mane will play on the other side.”
Although incarnated as a deadly winger duo for Liverpool, Salah and Mane had a fight at the beginning of this season. In Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Burnley last October, Mane was blamed for being selfish in front of goal.
