Eiduka did not start skateboarding on Saturday due to doubtful Covid-19 test results. The Covid-19 tests passed by Eiduka have found limit values between the status of a contact person and a Covid-19 positive person, which prevents the athlete from going to the start, but kept hopes for participation in the next ones.

The sprint qualification will start on Tuesday at 10 am Latvian time and Eiduka is currently in the competition application, but, as the agency LETA has clarified, there is no clarity about the athlete’s participation in it.

Uncertainty about the future status of Eiduka also raises concerns about whether Latvia will be able to start the 4×5-kilometer relay on February 12, which takes place the day after the 7.5-kilometer sprint and the day before the ten-kilometer biathlon. The fifth quota for cross-country skiing in Latvia has been allocated to biathlete Baiba Bendika, who is expected to take part in a distance of only 30 kilometers with a joint start. In a conversation with LETA on Monday, Bendika noted that he is currently thinking only about future starts in biathlon, without mentioning whether Eiduk could be replaced if necessary.

However, the Latvian team has not lost hope that Eiduka will be able to return and take part in the freestyle sprint on Tuesday and the ten-kilometer distance in the classic scheduled for Thursday.
