A thorn in the side of Bayern Munich. For several months now, the residents of the Allianz Arena have been trying to extend David Alaba (28). Gradually becoming one of the team’s executives, the Austrian will come to the end of his contract in June 2021. A situation that does not please the Germans very much, known to be pragmatic and to have a good sense of the ‘anticipation. But the versatile left side does not seem to be in a hurry and obviously wants to dictate his law and the tempo. Asked about him a few days ago at a press conference on the occasion of Leroy Sané’s presentation, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge initially explained: “Both (Alaba and Alcantara) are under contract until June 30, 2021. They will play in the Round of 16 against Chelsea. If we qualify, they will definitely play the tournament in Lisbon with us. So we will see ”.

Then he lingered on the Austrian case. “Hasan Salihamidžić is in discussions with David’s agent. So far we have not found a solution. We want to extend his contract. We put our cards on the table, now it’s up to David and his agents to see. (…) Regarding salaries, some agents seem to think that despite the coronavirus, the sun is still shining. This is not the case. Maybe there is a chance to find a compromise. (…) It’s important that David decides what he wants to do. Would he like to do something else? If so, you must show understanding ”.
Broken negotiations between the two parties
A week after these statements, the situation seems more tense than ever between the two clans. Sports Picture reports tensions during the last talks between the different parties. The German media reports that a meeting took place at the restaurant in June. In addition to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Hasan Salihamidžić was present to exchange with the player’s father, Georges, and his representative, Pini Zahavi. But instead of moving closer to a deal, the two sides were at odds. The highlight was reportedly when Zahavi, who claims an annual salary of € 20million for his client, told Bayern executives that they would have money in the future. Words that would have put Salihamidžić in a black anger. The latter would have asked the Alaba agent in which world he lived, he who had explained to him a little earlier precisely that the crisis linked to Covid-19 had impacted the club and the market.
An episode that reflects the crisis that is brewing between the German team and those close to the Austrian defender. Sports Picture explains that the negotiations are currently broken and at a standstill. However, the 2020 Bundesliga winners still hope to be successful in extending David Alaba. But it is certain that it will not be at the asking price. They are unwilling to give him a salary of 20 million euros per year. Which would not please Pini Zahavi at all, who would have threatened that his player would leave free and for free in a year. He is also said to have referred to Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, although no offer has yet arrived in Munich. And the player in all of this?
