Israel’s Government Will Be Disbanded, What Happens?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Israel’s parliament decided to dissolve the government. This happened when the coalition initiated by Prime Minister (PM) Naftali Bennett began to crumble.

Later, there will be another general election (election) to elect a new government. During the decision to disband until the upcoming elections, Bennett’s PM position will be replaced by his partner who is currently the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu), Yair Lapid.

“Together, we got Israel out of the hole. We’ve accomplished a lot this year. First and foremost, we brought to center the values of justice and trust,” Bennett was quoted as saying. Al JazeeraTuesday (21/6/2022).

Lapid and Bennett in June 2021 formed a coalition after two years of political stalemate. This coalition also finally succeeded in overthrowing the Benjamin Netanyahu regime.

Even so, the coalition initiated by Bennett itself actually began to be fragile from the start. The reason is that this coalition is filled with political parties with a different spectrum of thought, namely right-wing, liberal, and Arab.

One of the issues that is quite widely divided this coalition is related to Palestine and the occupation of the West Bank. Coalition parties, especially parties with Arab backgrounds, oppose this.

But despite its fragility, the coalition made a series of achievements, including those related to passing the first national budget and navigating several Covid-19 outbreaks without going into lockdown.

Meanwhile, with the holding of re-election, Netanyahu began to be confident that he could win the prime minister’s seat. The reason is, several surveys say his party, Likud, will be the largest party in the country.

“I think the wind has changed. I feel it,” Netanyahu said.
