TEL AVIV – Sirens signaling a rocket attack blared on Friday (6/8/2021) morning along the northern border Israel with Lebanon and Syria. The Iron Dome missile defense system was activated and according to the Zionist military, it managed to intercept about 10 rockets fired from Lebanon.

Although fired from Lebanese territory, it was not immediately clear whether the rockets were fired by Hezbollah or other Palestinian-affiliated groups along the border.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had responded to the attack with artillery fire in the Mount Dov area.

No casualties have been reported so far. The IDF confirmed that 10 rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome, but reports circulating in the Zionist media suggested around 20 rockets were initially fired. It is not clear in which area the weapons fell.

A Lebanese security source confirmed to Reuters that several rockets had been fired from southern Lebanon towards Israel.

This attack followed earlier rocket fire earlier in the week, in which rockets were also fired at Israel from southern Lebanon.

Instructions have been sent to resident Kiryat Shmona, stating that shelters opened on Tuesday after rocket fire from the previous days will remain open over the weekend to provide residents with a sense of security. Mayor Avihay Shtern and City Chief of Staff Dekel Arieh are in constant contact with military officials.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz came out in the middle of a recorded interview for a security update at the Kirya military headquarters, which includes the General Staff Headquarters, in Tel Aviv, in preparation for the Israeli response.

On Wednesday, the IDF identified three rocket launches from Lebanon. One fell inside Lebanon, while the other two hit open areas inside Israel.

Shortly thereafter the IDF retaliated with artillery fire towards the rocket launch site. About six artillery shells were fired by the IDF into an open area in Lebanon located north of Metula.

The Zionist military then carried out two other massive retaliations across the border, including with fighter jet strikes.
