Israeli planes struck three targets belonging to the Palestinian group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, early this morning, the Associated Press reported.
According to the Israeli army, a weapons factory, a tunnel for carrying weapons and a training ground were hit.
The Israeli strikes came in response to a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip on Thursday night, which fell in the south of the country after weeks of relative calm along the border.
No injuries or damage were reported. Air-raid sirens sounded in the village of Sderot in the Negev desert.
So far, no Palestinian group in the Hamas-controlled Palestinian region has claimed responsibility for the attack. Israel usually blames Hamas for all acts of violence that come from Gaza.
The Palestinian attack took place at the end of Independence Day, which celebrates the creation of the state of Israel after the end of the British mandate in Palestine.
