Israel has announced that it will ban all foreigners from entering its territory due to the spread of the new variant of the coronavirus found in southern Africa, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in a statement that the ban, which must be approved by the cabinet, will last 14 days.
Thus, Israel will become the first country to completely close its borders because of the Omicron option. So far, one case has been identified and 7 more are suspected.
In addition to closing the borders, the authorities will introduce telephone tracking technology, which is generally used for counter-terrorism purposes, to track people infected with the new version of the virus.
