Hetz-3 tests in Israel

The Ministry of Defense of the country called the success of this test a cornerstone for Israel’s operational capabilities for self-defense.

Israel on Tuesday, January 18, conducted a successful test to intercept an air target using a Hetz-3 (Strela-3) missile, reports The Jerusalem Post.

It is noted that the test was carried out with the assistance of the Israeli Defense Department, the Israel Defense Forces and the US Missile Defense Agency.

During the test, the Hetz radar system recorded the target, the data was transmitted to the control point, where, after the analysis, an action plan was drawn up and two Hetz-3 anti-missiles were launched at an extra-atmospheric target.

“The success of this test is a cornerstone for Israel’s operational capabilities to defend itself against existing and growing threats in the region,” Israel’s Defense Ministry commented on the test.

The head of the Israeli aerospace industry, Boaz Levy, in turn, said that during the test of the system, a large amount of material was collected that will help the development of technologies in the future.

In Israel, such tests were explained by concern that Iran continues to develop a nuclear and missile program, despite criticism from the international community.

Recall that at the beginning of January Israel strikes at Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip. The strikes were reported to have targeted a missile site and military posts used for terrorist activities.
