Governor of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) Edy Rahmayadi said self-isolation (isoman) is completely ineffective against the spread corona virus (Covid-19) in North Sumatra.
Departing from this belief, Edy emphasized that in the future people who are exposed to Covid-19 will be treated in centralized isolation (isoter).
“Today’s data that isoman is up to 14,500. The isoman is only 400 people. So we will open these centralized isolation places in the future. So slowly we don’t apply isomanism. Because isoman is completely ineffective,” said Edy Rahmayadi while reviewing the location of Isoter at the Medan Hajj Dormitory, Monday (21/2).
According to Edy, isomanism causes the emergence of family clusters because inevitably family members who are at home are also exposed.
“He has Covid, he is isoman, apparently he is not ready to be one with his family and children. Medicines cannot be reached by the health office, puskesmas, and so on, so it is difficult, family clusters occur. So we are swelling at this time,” he said.
To overcome the surge in the spread of the Corona virus, Edy ensured that the North Sumatra Provincial Government would implement centralized isolation. Edy ordered 33 regencies/cities in North Sumatra to open integrated isolation sites.
“For the isoters opened by the provincial government, the task force is for people who have traveled far from 33 regencies/cities or other areas outside North Sumatra who are infected, who are exposed to Covid and whose condition is under control, the disease is mild,” he said.
Edy added that slowly the isoman will be removed after the available isoter places increase. The former Pangkostrad also requested that the TNI and Polri participate in monitoring and supplying information about Covid.
“Prepare all of this and make sure our people can be controlled and healthy. Because currently exposed to Covid-19 outside Java and Bali are very increasing and worrying,” he explained.
