The city of Bruchsal confirmed a corresponding letter from the authorities on Thursday, but emphasized: “We are only the executive regulatory office. The content of the text came from the competent health authority in the district office.” The Karlsruhe authorities defended the listed requirements on request, but at the same time made it clear: “There is absolutely no thought of the child being separated from the parents!”
Criticism of quarantine requirements in Offenbach
There was a similar process in the Offenbach district. He has rejected criticism of his quarantine requirements for children suspected of having a corona infection. According to media reports, health authorities, including those in the Offenbach district, are asking parents to isolate children with an infection separately from the family. The district rejected this on Thursday and referred to a notification from the end of July.
It says that the main task is to prevent the spread of contagious diseases. The legislature makes no difference in age here. However, this must also be brought into line with the real life of those affected. “So it is in no way a matter of simply (completely) separating (small) children from their parents and siblings, but rather – where possible and justifiable – of finding alternatives in their daily dealings with one another.”
Ministry in NRW: Search for real-life solutions
The Ministry of Health in North Rhine-Westphalia meanwhile reassured parents that their children would not be deprived of their child if Corona was suspected. “In NRW, health authorities do not threaten to take children into care and do not order isolation of children separately from the family in quarantine at home,” said a ministry spokesman on Thursday for the “New Westphalian”.
“I don’t know of any case.” He added: “If a child needs to be quarantined in North Rhine-Westphalia due to a suspected corona, the health authorities are always looking for real-life solutions that guarantee health protection. For example, that a parent also goes into quarantine.”
