BEIRUT.- The extremist group Islamic State threatened Monday to launch a wave of attacks against Israel and undermined US intentions to launch a plan to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In a video placed on the internet on Monday by al-Furqan, the Islamic State media channel, the spokesman of the Abu Hamza al-Qurayshi group calls its militants to carry out attacks against Israel.
The video, about 37 minutes long, comes after the death of its founding leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in an American attack in northern Syria. The Islamic State, in addition, lost last March the last remaining redoubt of the “caliphate” that it aspired to establish in parts of Iraq and Syria.
After the death of al-Baghdadi, the group appointed its successor Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi in October.
“He and his brothers in all the states have sworn to initiate a new phase, which is to attack the Jews and recover everything they have stolen from Muslims,” says the spokesman in reference to al-Qurayshi.

He adds that “the soldiers of the caliphate,” especially on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and in the Levant, must attack Jewish targets as they are close to Israel.
“Muslims in Palestine and elsewhere, assume the vanguard in the fight against the Jews and the‘ Agreement of the Century, “he added, referring to the Middle East peace plan that the United States is promoting.
