ISF Arrests Individual Selling Sick and Dead Cows for Consumption

The following statement:

Within the framework of the continuous work carried out by the Internal Security Forces to follow up on the food security file, information was available to the Northern Investigation Detachment in the Regional Gendarmerie Unit, that an unidentified person had purchased a quantity of sick and dead cows, after which he would slaughter them and sell them to the owners of butcheries, which poses a threat to the Citizen health.

After extensive follow-up and investigations carried out by the members of this detachment, it was possible to identify the perpetrator, who is called:

On 29-05-2023, in the locality of Al-Hawa – Zgharta district, and after a careful monitoring process, one of the Detachment’s patrols stopped him in front of an inconspicuous slaughterhouse – being inside a farm – and not conforming to health specifications, and seized an illegal “Toyota Dyna” pickup. A white and red color, carrying a dead cow covered in cheddar, which was about to be sold in the market.

As a result of the examination of the slaughterhouse by the Zgharta district doctor / representative of the Ministry of Health, it was found that it did not comply with the minimum conditions of public health.

The farm will be sealed with red wax after the livestock inside it have been evacuated. The arrested and the “pick-up” were also deposited in the Zgharta platoon to carry out the legal requirements, based on the indication of the competent judiciary.
