continues to grow: defender Philip Riefers
is the next entry of the club from the German Ice Hockey League, which recently announced the contract extension with Mike Hoeffel. The 30-year-old Riefers comes from the Krefeld Penguins and will be going into his thirteenth season in the German upper house at Seilersee.
Roosters: Riefers DEL-experienced
The Defender, who can also be used as a winger, comes from the offspring of Krefeld and also made it into the DEL with the Rhinelanders. Riefers played alongside the penguins in the DEL for Cologne, Mannheim, Augsburg and Wolfsburg. During this time, he reached the play-offs eight times with his teams and has a total of 595 games and 102 points. In 2017 Riefers reached the final series of the German championship at the Grizzlys Wolfsburg together with Rooster’s newcomer Brent Aubin.

“The tradition and the mentality with which ice hockey is played in Iserlohn suit me. The conversations with Christian Hommel confirmed this impression. That’s why I decided to move to the Seilersee, ”said Riefers, explaining his reasons for changing clubs.
“It can be used variably, especially with the strain that awaits us, it is extremely important to be able to react to a wide variety of situations with such players. In addition, Philip is a German defender and right-handed shooter who brings experience and knows the league very well. When it became clear that Philip was on the market, we had to take the opportunity, ”reveals Christian Hommel, Sports Director of the Iserlohn Roosters.
