Is There Something Like Spaghetti On Mars? This is NASA’s opinion

Surabaya (beritajatim.com) – There is always something new to be discovered in space research. Like recent findings, a noodle-shaped object appears on the surface of Mars. Is there a spaghetti restaurant there?

Reported from mirror.co.ukthe discovery of a yellow spaghetti-shaped object on the plains of the Red Planet has also been identified by NASA.

The strange, spaghetti-like substance was captured in this photo taken by NASA’s Perseverance rover that landed inside Jezero Crater last year.

The image was first seen by a rover or robot explorer the size of a car that has a high-quality camera on July 12. The sighting sparked wild theories about the potential for life on the Red Planet.

However, NASA has confirmed on their official website account that it is a piece of Dacron net. It was concluded that Dacron, which is a member of the polyester family, likely came from the thermal blanket used in the rover’s descent stage.

“This particular piece of net appears to have undergone significant disintegration/crushing, indicating that the net was subjected to intense stress,” Nasa wrote on their website.

Detritus from one of the rover’s entry, descent and landing (EDL) components is an unavoidable consequence of making a soft landing on Mars but can present challenges for those working on these strenuous missions to Mars.

According to Wikipedia, in biology, detritus is organic matter from dead particulate matter, which is distinguished from dissolved organic matter. Detritus usually includes bodies or body fragments of dead organisms, and other impurities. Detritus becomes a reservoir for communities and colonies of spoilage and decomposer microorganisms.

The rover is on the planet to drill for rock and soil samples to be collected and brought back to Earth in the 2030s.

Analysis of the sample can determine if there is, or ever was, life on Mars.

NASA sterilized the Perseverance prior to launch to avoid contaminating Mars with Earth’s microbes, but the rover team would need to use its cameras to try and make sure no material from the EDL got into the sample.

The article continued, “The sampling team will also continue to monitor potential sources of contamination to ensure the integrity of the cache of returned samples.” [adg/beq]
