Is Eid Homecoming Banned Again This Year? This is what the Ministry of Transportation said

Jakarta

This year marks the third time in the holy month of Ramadan amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Ramadan itself is thick with the homecoming culture during the Eid al-Fitr. Two years ago, the government banned people from going home. How about 2022?

Spokesman for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, explained that during the pandemic, the government continued to discuss the rules for going home for Eid.

He emphasized that there would be his own coordination meeting to discuss the Lebaran homecoming. This means that there is no signal whether it is prohibited or not for going home in 2022.

“Regarding going home, as during the pandemic, it is always discussed cross-sectorally. Later there will be a special coordination meeting related to this,” he told detik.comSaturday (12/3/2022).

Adita further said that in determining the rules related to going home, the conditions for traveling will refer to decisions taken at cross-sectoral coordination meetings.

“The Ministry of Transportation focuses on providing transportation infrastructure and facilities that can provide mobility services for the community,” he explained.

As is known, Lebaran homecoming during the pandemic is in the public’s spotlight. The reason is that the government has banned this activity for two times, namely 2020 and 2021.

The ban was carried out to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in various regions. So this year, of course, the public will ask whether it will be banned again or given leniency.
