Price cooking oil was set to Rp. 14,000 per liter but it turned out to be unlucky. Availability is still difficult to find in some minimarkets.
Many reports say that cooking oil has become a scarce item and that the shelves of cooking oil in minimarkets are often empty.
Some of the sources that are the reason why cooking oil is always empty have been summarized detik.comSaturday (19/2/2022) below:
1. Supply of goods is low
Chairman of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) Roy Mandey opened up about the culprit. The main problem of the scarcity of cooking oil is the supply of goods that are increasingly accepted by retail stores.
“We don’t produce cooking oil at this retail, we just distribute it, the producers are the producers, the distributors market them. Maybe the producers have a problem with the raw materials, that’s what causes the supply to distributors to be lacking, in the end we don’t participate,” said Roy to detik.com, Last Sunday (30/1/2022).
According to him, the raw material for CPO from palm oil to make cooking oil is lacking. So that makes manufacturers can not produce for a while.
In line with Roy, Secretary General Aprindo Solihin said that the actual shortage of cooking oil is an illustration of how low the supply of cooking oil is.
“Now we order to the distributor. We don’t order 1,000 who were sent, thank God we only got 60. Thank God it’s still being sent,” said Solihin to detik.com.
2. Panic buying
Solihin also said that since the initial announcement of the cooking oil policy of Rp. 14 thousand per liter, his party has taken into account the existing stock and can be sold for up to two weeks. However, in reality, this is not the case, because panic buying is happening in the community.
“The stock (of cooking oil) should have been in the store for two weeks, there was an extraordinary panic. People buying their wives lined up, husbands, children, their assistants also lined up,” he added.
