POS-KUPANG.COM – Madagascar attracted much attention when last April, the African island nation announced that a local plant was being used in combat corona virus.
President Andry Rajoelina promoted a drink containing extracts of the artemisia plant.
So far there has been no evidence that this plant – some of which have malaria-fighting properties – can also fight back Covid-19, said World Health Organization (WHO).
So, what do we know about this plant and its contents?
Where do artemisia plants come from?
Artemisia annua comes from Asia, but grows in many parts of the world with hot and hot weather.
This herb has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 2,000 years to treat several ailments, such as malaria, to reduce pain and fever.
In Chinese medicine, this plant is known as “qinghao.” It is also referred to as sweet or annual wormwood, and is used in alternative therapies. This herb is even used in some alcoholic drinks.
