IRPEF, here’s what half of Italians are doing

It has been recorded that many Italians do not declare their income. According to the statistics for 2018, in fact, a large part of citizens declares only 2% of IRPEF, this is what half of Italians are doing. These are numbers that seem to confirm tax evasion, compared with the expenses incurred on real estate and telephony. Hence, it would seem a deliberate avoidance.

Data for 2018

The data speak for themselves. Out of 60,359 citizens in Italy at the end of two years ago, it appears that only 41,372,851 are actually reporting taxpayers. Itineraries Social Security has elaborated these numbers for the survey carried out on tax revenues. Further results underline that 31,155,444 are payers who pay 1 euro to personal income tax. It would therefore be 482,578 more than the previous year. But, a sore point, it is estimated that they are even 434,622 less than in 2011.

So, in layman’s terms, it means that half of the Italians don’t have income. It is in fact a good 29.204 million citizens. Therefore, as a percentage, it means 48.38%.

Evasion during the pandemic and the taxes that weigh on those who declare

Therefore, since 2015, the number of taxpayers who submit the declaration has increased. But, unfortunately, the number of those who take the burden of the taxman on their shoulders remains the same. It can be seen from the survey results, in fact, that 13% of taxpayers with an income ranging from 35,000 euros upwards pay 58.9% of all IRPEF, that’s what half of Italians are doing.

The main problem is that, from the data that emerged, it is clear that this group of Italians weighs on their fellow citizens. And it will also do so during a possible retirement. And therefore those who declare 35,000 euros or more are harassed the most, having very few benefits in their favor.
