Irma Chaniago NasDem Officially Returns to Member of Parliament

NasDem Party Politicians, Irma Suryani Chaniago, officially returned to being a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Tuesday (7/12). He was sworn in to replace a member of the DPR from the NasDem faction, Percha Leanpuri, who died from Covid-19.

Irma’s inauguration was carried out at the DPR Plenary Meeting chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

“Excerpts from the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia number 137/P 2021 concerning the inauguration of the interim appointment of members of the DPR and members of the MPR remaining in office for 2019-2024 with the grace of God Almighty, the President of the Republic of Indonesia considers and so on, remembers and so on, decides, stipulates a Presidential Decree on the Inauguration of PAW, DPR and MPR for the remaining 2019-2024 terms,” ​​said Dasco.

“From the time of taking the oath of appointment as a member of the DPR until the end of the 2019-2024 term of office,” he added.

Besides Irma, this time’s Plenary Meeting also inaugurated the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician, Riyanta, to replace Imam Suroso who also died of Covid-19.

For information, Irma failed to return to Senayan through the 2019 election after losing her vote to Sri Kustina in the South Sumatra (Sumsel) 2 electoral district.

The former spokesman for the Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin National Campaign Team (TKN) in the 2019 presidential election was later appointed as an Independent Commissioner of Pelindo I in April 2020.

He also admitted that he was not active from the NasDem party and management at that time.
