BRUSSELS – Domestically discredited Irish trade commissioner of the European Union, Phil Hogan, is resigning. A spokesman for the European Commission has confirmed this to Irish media. The Irish newspaper The Irish Independent reported earlier in the evening that it had learned from reliable sources that the Irishman, who previously served as agricultural commissioner for five years, is resigning.
