The Iraqis are called tomorrow to a large march called by the influential Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr to protest against the presence of the United States in the country and to support the mobilizations that demand the departure of corrupt institutions.

Three weeks after the US attack in which Iranian General Qasem Soleimaní and several Iraqi Shiite militia leaders died, the Sadr Current expects Iraqis to attend the march in the Jadriyah area of Baghdad.

The rallies will also claim “political reform and the punishment of the corrupt” as well as the claims of protesters in Tahrir Square in Baghdad and other parts of the country that have been repeated since October 1.

Al Sadr’s spokesman, Salah al Obeidi, said yesterday in an interview issued by state channel Al Iraquiya that the cleric wants to support “legal decisions and popular pressure to support Parliament after his decision to withdraw foreign forces “.

The Iraqi Parliament approved on January 5 “work to end the presence of any foreign force in the country.”

The spokesman said Al Sadr, who led the insurgency after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, but is not aligned with Iran, said the march was not caused by Iranian pressure and recalled that the cleric did not meet Iran’s demands when He decided to side with the demonstrations that broke out in early October.
