TEHERANIran warn that Armenian battle with Azerbaijan could turn into a regional war as it spreads across borders and attracts foreign powers. The war between the two neighboring countries even threatens Iran’s own security.

“We have to be careful that this war does not turn into a regional war,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said at an Iranian cabinet meeting.

“And those who pour gasoline into this war must pay attention that its continuation is not in the interests of any country, and this war must be ended in a political way,” he stressed. Newsweek, Thursday (8/10/2020).

Refers to the region Nagorno-Karabakh, led by ethnicity Armenia but is recognized internationally as part of AzerbaijanRouhani said that Iran cannot accept both occupation and war.

“We hope that with these efforts, the stability of this region will recover,” he added.

“Iran will not allow anyone to bring terrorists, whom we have fought for years in Syria, to our border points under any pretext,” Rouhani warned.

“This is unacceptable and has been explicitly notified to neighboring state offices,” he said.
