Iran Threatened by FIFA Sanctions, Italy Opportunity to World Cup 2022

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Italy has failed in qualifying 2022 World Cupbut there is an opportunity for Gli Azzurri to go to Qatar due to the Iranian football situation.

The four-time world title does not guarantee that Italy will be able to advance smoothly in the qualifying round. For the second time in a row, Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup.

The shock defeat to North Macedonia in the semifinals of the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers became a harsh reality for one of the countries with the most prestigious leagues in the world.

The final whistle has been blown and the game has ended, but now a gap has emerged for Italy because of Iran’s actions that could spark FIFA.

Quoted from Sport MediasetIran, which has already qualified for the World Cup, could be punished by FIFA for just banning 2,000 women from watching football matches.

The thousands of women held tickets for the World Cup qualifier between Iran and Lebanon, but were still not allowed into the stands.

This is not the first time this has happened and FIFA has asked Iran not to do so in 2019.

Meanwhile, quoted from Football Italia, a member of the Iranian Football Federation said he had heard worrying news from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation.

If Iran is to receive severe punishment, including disqualification from the World Cup, referring to FIFA rules, it is stated that the world’s highest soccer body will take action on the matter.

In theory, FIFA could promote the country with the highest coefficient as a substitute for the country that was dropped from the World Cup. Italy is currently the country with the highest coefficient that did not qualify for the World Cup.

But so far FIFA has never crossed out a country that has qualified for the World Cup.
