Iran has asked Interpol for help in arresting Trump

Tehran prosecutor Ali Kasimehr said that Trump and 30 other people to whom Iran attributes complicity in the January 3 assassination face charges of “murder and terrorism.” The prosecutor did not name anyone except the US president, but assured that the proceedings will continue after the end of Trump’s presidential term.

According to the AP, Interpol is unlikely to comply with Iran’s request, as its principles include not interfering in any political matters.

The Iranians’ move is a testament to the continuing high tensions in US-Iranian relations after Trump decided in 2018 to withdraw the US from an international agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

Solejmání headed the Kuds unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, conducted operations abroad and routinely traveled to Iraq. He was killed in an attack on Baghdad airport. Iran then launched a missile attack on US troops serving in Iraq.
