Germany, France and Great Britain have rejected the US attempt to oppose the reinstatement of all UN sanctions Iran to force. The United States withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and therefore had no right to trigger the so-called snapback mechanism, it said in a joint statement published on Thursday. “We cannot support this action because it is incompatible with our ongoing efforts to support the nuclear deal.”

The most powerful body in the United Nations last week rejected a US resolution to extend the UN arms embargo against Iran, which expires in October.
