There’s news that Apple’s upcoming phone, the iPhone 14 series, is likely to see a significant price increase due to the supply chain.
Apple is preparing to launch a series iPhone 14 highly anticipated in the next few months. There has been a lot of news about the upcoming iPhone 2022. And now, a recent report hints that the price may be going up drastically.
One of the material suppliers for the main chips Apple, TSMC, has warned that there could be an increase in the price of the iPhone, as reported by Bloomberg. The chipmaker said there have been various increases in material costs. Similar news came from Japanese chemicals supplier Showa Denko KK, who added that they expect prices to rise further as it grapples with a series of economic challenges facing the $550 billion semiconductor industry.
The report adds that there have been at least a dozen gains so far this year. Reported from Gizmochina (6/7), the main reason for this is the impact of the coronavirus on the supply chain. In addition, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and even the fall of the yen played a role in the price increase. In an interview, the supplier’s CFO warned that the problem might not improve until next year.
Chief Financial Officer, Hideki Somemiya stated that his company was forced to significantly increase the fees charged to customers. Now, the supplier is asking for double the amount previously estimated. However, it remains to be seen how this increase in raw material costs will impact the overall price for the upcoming iPhone 14 series.
