apple’s New Siri Faces internal Scrutiny, Launch ​Date in Doubt

Internal testing of the revamped ⁤Siri, slated for release with iOS 26.4, is reportedly generating disappointment at Apple, ⁤according to ⁣a new report from Bloomberg News, citing Mark Gurman’s Power On ⁤newsletter. The concerns are significant‍ enough ‌to create‍ tension within the company’s ⁤AI‍ division, with Gurman writing, “If the new Siri, planned for next spring, does not meet expectations, several senior executives of Apple’s⁢ AI division could leave the company.

The updated ‍voice assistant is currently targeted​ for a spring 2026 release – specifically March or ⁣April – allowing ‍Apple a window to refine ⁢the technology before its​ public debut. Though, sources indicate a lack of confidence in the ⁢project’s current state.

Originally unveiled at WWDC 2024, the ​next-generation⁣ Siri promised⁣ features like screen recognition,‍ improved contextual understanding, and direct control‍ within applications. Growth faced setbacks, leading to a one-year postponement.

During WWDC 2025, Apple’s Senior Vice​ President of Software, Craig Federighi, publicly acknowledged⁤ the extensive overhaul required for Siri, pushing the‍ launch target ​to 2026.

Despite‍ the extended timeline, the release of iOS 26.4 remains uncertain.
