iOS 17 StandBy Mode: Turn Your iPhone into a Smart Display While Charging

KOMPAS.com – The latest iPhone operating system, iOS 17 brings a number of new features. One of them is Standby Mode.

This StandBy Mode feature allows users to “conjure” their iPhone screen as if it were a smart display when charging wirelessly in landscape orientation. Smart display here means displaying various information, widgets, to the user’s favorite photos.

With the StandBy Mode feature, the HP screen will not display a black screen or the traditional iPhone home screen as usual.

StandBy Mode can be set to display a number of information such as date, weather, and time.

This StandBy Mode feature allows users to turn their iPhone screen into a smart display when it is charging in landscape orientation. Smart display here means displaying various information, widgets, to the user’s favorite photos.

Especially for clocks, users can choose various clock models. The clock information is displayed in large size, making the user feel like he has a traditional digital LED table clock. When charging at night, Standby Mode will display a clock with a low-light effect to help users fall asleep.

StandBy Mode also supports the Widget Stacks feature, aka displaying multiple widgets on one screen at once.

So, users can set StandBy Mode to display a combination of calendar and weather widgets, clock and calendar, weather and home control, calendar and daily schedule, or any other combination of widgets.

iPhone users can also take advantage of StandBy Mode as a “photo frame”. Users can choose their favorite moments to be displayed in full-screen mode in landscape orientation while charging.

If the user is using MagSafe, StandBy Mode will remember the user’s preferred display.

Especially for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max owners, these two iPhones are equipped with the Always-on display (AOD) feature by default. So, StandBy Mode can be displayed continuously, even though the screen is locked.

Now, for owners of other iPhone models, they have to tap the screen every time they want to see information in StandBy Mode, as compiled by KompasTekno from PhoneArena, Thursday (8/6/2023).
