US Olympic Legends Inducted in Hall of Fame Ceremony

Celebrating Excellence and Enduring Olympic Spirit

A distinguished group of American Olympians, Paralympians, and teams were honored for their monumental contributions to sport at the US Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame’s 18th induction ceremony. The event recognized athletes whose careers embodied the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.

Honoring Trailblazers and Inspirations

Among the luminaries celebrated were tennis icon **Serena Williams**, gymnastics star **Gabby Douglas**, and track and field legend **Allyson Felix**. Alpine skier **Bode Miller**, beach volleyball champion **Kerri Walsh Jennings**, and decorated basketball coach **Mike Krzyzewski** also received accolades.

Paralympic champions **Steve Cash** (sled hockey), **Susan Hagel** (Para archery, Para track and field, and wheelchair basketball), and **Marla Runyan** (Para track and field) were also inducted. The ceremony also paid tribute to the lasting impact of “Legends” **Flo Hyman** (indoor volleyball) and **Anita DeFrantz** (rowing).

A Legacy of Achievement and Leadership

The US Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame, established in 1979, annually recognizes the outstanding achievements and lasting contributions of America’s most accomplished figures in the Olympic and Paralympic movements.

IOC Member **Allyson Felix**, the most decorated woman in Olympic track and field history and an IOC Athletes’ Commission member elected in 2024, shared her gratitude: I’m humbled by the honour. I feel like the Olympics and the Olympic Movement have shaped my life. It means a lot to me and I’m really grateful.

The hall also recognized team achievements, including the 2010 four-man bobsled team and the 2004 US women’s wheelchair basketball team.

Looking Ahead to Future Games

The induction of **Anita DeFrantz** serves as a poignant reminder of the profound influence individuals have in shaping the Olympic Movement, extending beyond athletic performance to encompass values, leadership, and vision. This recognition comes as the Olympic Movement gears up for the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 and LA28 Games.

In 2023, the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee reported a record $122 million in revenue from its commercial programs, demonstrating continued public and corporate support for American athletes on the world stage (Olympics.com).
