Investigation into conflict about parked Boeings at Twente Airport

There will be an investigation into the conflict between the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) and Twente Airport about six Lufthansa Boeing 747s that were parked at the airport last summer.

The dispute arose when Lufthansa wanted three planes to take off and the inspection put a stop to that.

According to the ILT, Twente Airport only has a permit to land Boeing 747s and have them dismantled on site. According to the inspection, the runway does not have the infrastructure to allow very heavy aircraft such as the 747 to take off.

Waiver

The inspection states that Twente Airport knew from the start that the Boeings were no longer allowed to take off; the airport fights that. Summary proceedings could be prevented at the last minute through a one-off exemption from the ILT. Left last week the first device from the airport.

An internal investigation at Twente Airport must now clarify how the conflict could have arisen and whether measures are needed, says RTV East. This investigation is at the request of the municipality of Enschede and the province of Overijssel, the shareholders of the airport.

The Boeings came to Twente Airport in July; They were not used to such images there:
