Introducing the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. The new peak targets Lamborghini

Cayenne’s offer is expanded by a model called Turbo GT. Although not as powerful as the Turbo S E-Hybrid plug-in hybrid, it is faster.

Porsche can appeal to a diverse clientele in its model lines thanks to a wide range of variants. This applies not only to the legendary 911, but also to the Cayenne SUV. It is available in two body variants (the default model is complemented by the Cayenne Coupé), each of which offers five different powertrains. And now there’s another.

The novelty is called the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT and presents itself as the new top of the range for this SUV, which wants to combine high performance with great driving characteristics and usability every day. It is currently available exclusively for the Cayenne Coupé, with a sporty stern.

The already well-known twice-supercharged four-cylinder eight-cylinder fork known from the Cayenne Turbo works in the bowels of the novelty. In this case, however, it is tuned up to 471 kW (640 hp) and 850 Nm, which is 67 kW and 80 Nm more than in the case of Cayenne Turbo. Higher numbers were achieved by using new key components, such as the crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons or the timing chain. The eight-speed automatic with new water cooling then shifts faster.

The result of the increase in these values is the fact that the Cayenne Turbo GT accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 3.3 seconds and travels at a top speed of 300 km / h. Compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, it is therefore six tenths faster on the 100 and its maximum speed is 14 km / h higher.

This is therefore the fastest Porsche SUV, which has cars such as the Lamborghini Urus in the viewfinder, but it is even 10 more powerful with a four-liter eight-cylinder twin-turbo. The interesting thing is that this is not the most powerful version in Cayenne’s offer. This is a plug-in hybrid Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid with an output of 500 kW (680 hp). Even due to heavy batteries, however, it accelerates to one hundred “only” in 3.8 seconds and travels at a maximum speed of 295 km / h.

As is usual with Porsche, the Cayenne Turbo GT differs from other derivatives not only in high performance. The chassis was further reduced by 17 mm, which was adapted to its tuning. The stiffness of the air suspension was thus further increased by 15%, and the setting of the swivel rear axle or active stabilizers was also adjusted. The front axle using wider tires, which are 22 “Pirelli P Zero Corsa, also underwent optimization.

The standard-supplied carbon-ceramic brakes take care of stopping, while the sporty exhaust system adds a good sound. It is largely titanium, which together with the removal of the central shock absorber helped reduce its weight.

All this ensured that you did Cayenne Turbo GT secured the title of the fastest SUV on the North Loop of the Nürburgring, as previously announced by the carmaker. The famous track was surrounded by a car with test driver Lars Kern behind the wheel with a time of seven minutes and 38.9 seconds. The current record holder, Audi RS Q8, he managed it in 2019 in 7: 42.253.

The appearance also differs, thanks to a new bumper with enlarged cooling holes or extended fenders and a carbon diffuser at the rear. The adjustable rear spoiler is then 25 mm larger than the Turbo variant, which increases the downforce. Inside, there is a new multimedia system or sports seats, with two seats at the back.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT can now be ordered. The first cars will appear at customers in mid-September.
