In November 2023, together with the introduction of the BMW Operating System 9 (based for the first time on an “Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software” stack), the new BMW Digital Premium offer will also be introduced in Germany. It is optionally available for the BMW X1, BMW iX1 and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer models.
Customers can book it via the expanded BMW ConnectedDrive Store with additional third-party apps. This means they can use all apps available in their country in the vehicle, such as video (Xperi TiVo is used) and music streaming, news or gaming. The approximately 10 titles that can be played at the beginning include racing, sports, quizzes and skill games. In addition, BMW Digital Premium offers extended navigation functions and the option for individualization through additional My Modes.
BMW Digital Premium can be booked in Germany at a price of 9.98 euros per month or, probably from mid-2024, for 99 euros per year. The offer also includes data usage for all digital services and the apps included in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store, including music and video streaming. To get to know all the services and content of BMW Digital Premium, customers can take advantage of a three-month free test phase.
These upgrades are available in the ConnectedDrive Store on the web, in the My BMW app and directly in the vehicle. According to BMW, one innovation is that customers can now select and pay for upgrades directly in the vehicle. You are no longer directed to the app or the internet to complete the booking, but can complete the booking including payment completely in the vehicle.
