San Juan / September 22, 2023 – The national dramaturgy is delighted with the staging of “El Bulevar”, a work by the Puerto Rican writer Rafael Pagán Rodríguez. This piece includes everyday themes such as love, heartbreak, sexuality and family situations, all woven into a single story that reveals the cruel, absurd and real side of human beings.
This drama, sprinkled with touches of comedy, will be presented from October 20, in the Carlos Marichal experimental room of the Santurce Fine Arts Center.
El Bulevar will feature the stellar performances of Carlos Vega, Mariana Quiles, Willie Denton, Keyla Ramos Pratts, Jay López, Blanca Lissette Cruz, Syndia, Anoushka Medina, Daniel Torres, Axel Serrant, Heyda Salamán and Ángel Manuel, under the direction of Rafael Pagan.
“Through the characters we discover stories that can happen anywhere and that daily flirt with life, passions, lies and even death. Within the drama of real life we compile stories that show what we often are as human beings and where we discover that our daily life is a boulevard of emotions,” said Rafael Pagán, who has been awarded the Victoria Espinosa Awards twice at the drama category.
For his part, actor and producer Ángel Manuel added that “as a producer I have always opted to unite veteran actors with the new strain and on this occasion we have achieved it. We have created a winning cast that, without a doubt, has greatly enriched the characters. Likewise, the text is extraordinary and that is also part of our mission, to tell different stories and have the opportunity to leave traces on human beings.”
For more than a decade, the theater has united the lives of Rafael Pagán and Ángel Manuel, since they have had the opportunity to work on dramatic works that have been awarded and recognized by critics.
“Rafa and I have worked together for a long time and we have created a winning team. We premiered pieces together like “The table is rented” in Miami. Also “Spider-Man” and we did a lot of micro theater. As an actor and producer I like to do work that challenges me. I like to do new, innovative and creative things and I achieve that with the texts of this great playwright,” concluded Ángel Manuel.
The performances of “El Bulevar” are produced by Ángel Manuel and Rafael Pagán for JOM Events and will take place from October 20, at the CBA in Santurce. Tickets are available at Ticketera or at the Bellas Artes box office.
