Looks optimistically into the future: Franziska Driessen is President of the Synodal Council of the Catholic Church in the Canton of Zurich.

Ms. Driessen, you reacted almost euphorically to the news that Joseph Bonnemain will become Bishop of Chur. Will women soon be reading masses in Zurich?
Of course I would like that. But we have to be realistic. Bishop Bonnemain will not be the one to women for the women’s diaconate, and then in a year we will have the first female pastor. But I expect him to bring women into key positions. The aim should be that 50 percent of all management positions in the ordinariate are held by women. And I trust him to do that too.

What makes you so optimistic?
The experiences I made with him working together. He is the link between the cantonal churches and the diocese in various committees. And then I notice again and again that he takes the concerns of the cantonal churches seriously and also represents them in Chur.
