“Accelerate the booster shot and strongly consider vaccinating the children. This saves us time until there is a vaccine against the omikron variant” That is the advice of professor Nico Callewaert (UGent-VIB). From the very beginning, he and his team have been studying antibodies against the coronavirus, and thereby also the mutations of the coronavirus. And recently also the highly contagious omikron variant, about which we still know very little: “We can’t gamble now on a possibly milder course of disease. That is playing Russian roulette.”
