Korschenbroich / Kaarst. Unfortunately, there will be no face-to-face event this year on International Women’s Day on March 8th. The equality officer Nora Osmani in Korschenbroich, together with her colleague Sigrid Hecker from Kaarst, is instead offering 150 interested people access to the award-winning film “woman” – even before it starts in the cinemas.

We have been dealing with the pandemic for 12 months now and there is hardly any room for other topics. These months have strained everyone and continue to strain. As is so often the case, it is women who work in systemically relevant and, unfortunately, often poorly paid jobs – be it in nursing, in kindergarten or at the supermarket checkout – and at the same time have to do more than usual at home. Even before Corona, the living situation of women and girls around the world was affected far more frequently and more severely by poverty, climate change, food insecurity, inadequate health care and global economic crises than that of men and boys. Current studies by UN-Woman on the effects of the crisis show that the existing inequalities have intensified during the pandemic.

The worldwide WOMAN project offers two thousand women from fifty countries a place for their voice. In addition to very personal reports about all the injustices, the physical and psychological attacks that women are exposed to all over the world, what makes this film special is that it reflects the immense strength of women. The strength and ability not to despair despite all obstacles and injustices and to hold on to the desire to change the world for the better. A film that gives you courage. It’s worth taking a look.

From March 7, 2021 00:01 am, 150 free accesses will be activated for 48 hours via the following link: https://woman-kaarstkorschenbroich-ticket.eventbrite.de.
