International – Flat Misses MLS Finals – New York challenges Portland

New York (SID) – The German professional soccer player Leon Flach missed the final in the North American professional soccer league MLS with Philadelphia Union. Without eleven corona-related failures, including Flax’s German defender colleague Kai Wagner, the actually favored team lost 1: 2 (0: 0) in the final of the Eastern Conference New York City FC 1: 2 (0: 0).

Philadelphia took the lead through an own goal by Daniel Gazdag (63rd). But Maxi Moralez (65th) and Talles Magno (88th) turned the game for City. In the fight for the title on Saturday (December 11th), New York challenges the Portland Timbers, who had prevailed in the final of the Western Conference 2-0 (1-0) against Real Salt Lake.

Midfielder Flach was replaced in the closing stages. Because of the Corona problems, there were five play-off debutants in the starting line-up of the German sports director Ernst Tanner’s team.
