Mainz (dpa / lrs) – 22 people in Rhineland-Palatinate belong to the Italian mafia, according to the Interior Ministry. “All of them have Italian citizenship,” said State Secretary Nicole Steingaß (SPD) ‘s answer to a small request from CDU member of the state parliament, Matthias Lammert. Some of them are being investigated: for assault, fraud and two traffic offenses. The 22 Italians are registered in the cities of Mainz, Worms, Ludwigshafen and Koblenz as well as in the districts of Mayen-Koblenz, Donnersberg, Rhine-Palatinate, Mainz-Bingen, Kaiserslautern and the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm. Nobody is in custody, has gone into hiding or has a gun license.
