Professionals in the medical and nursing field of the Catalan Society of Intensive and Critical Medicine (Socmic) have urged the creation of the specialty of Intensive Nursing, given the skills and level of experience that care for this type of patient requires.
In a statement this Wednesday, the association has proposed increasing the beds of intensive care services – both structural and strategic reserve -, in addition to planning and managing contingency plans in the event of a possible outbreak of coronavirus that requires the expansion of the health system.
Likewise, it has demanded to increase the number of residents specialized in Intensive Care Medicine to guarantee “multipurpose” professionals and has advocated the digitization of the set of Intensive Care Services in order to have a shared and more agile command panel.
